A fresh start abroad turns into a fight for survival in the first full staging of Michael Morpurgo’s heart-breaking adventure Running Wild, here leant a unique adaptation by Samuel Adamson.
Will and his mother cannot wait for their holiday in Indonesia which, as they see it, is a chance to start anew. Will in particular is looking forward to riding their elephant, Oona.
But their holiday plans take a terrifying turn when a tsunami hits the coast and Will, clinging on for dear life to the charging Oona, is carried into the middle of the rainforest. Now, he must learn to survive in a hostile environment – and he is not alone.
Running Wild is directed by Artistic Director Timothy Sheader and original Chichester director Dale Rooks, and features puppetry design and direction by Finn Caldwell and Toby Olié for Gyre & Gimble, both previous Associate Puppetry Directors on War Horse.
This is a story of love, loss, loyalty and of living for the moment.
