A freewheeling monologue of deadpan humour and striking honesty, RUFF is performance artist Peggy Shaw’s reflections on life before and after the stroke she had in 2011.

Supported by video monitors, a green screen and her virtual back-up band, Shaw pays tribute to the family, friends and performers who have inspired and kept her company over the years in confronting identity and change.

Combining autobiographical anecdotes with song renditions (including an informative adaptation of ‘The Hokey Cokey’), imitations and reflections on the space left behind for new insight, this is a stand-up routine that critics have cited as being both hilarious but, moreover, thought-provoking.

Led by Shaw and Lois Weaver, New York-based duo Split Britches has transformed the queer performance scene with satirical gender-bending work.
