Sibelius' dramatic Finlandia kicks off an evening of classical favourites, followed by Mendelssohn's warmly melodic Violin Concerto, performed by former BBC Young Musician of the Year Jennifer Pike. The second half features Dvoøák's spontaneous and exuberant Symphony No.8.

An evening of the best of British orchestral music, featuring Walton's glorious Crown Imperial march, Elgar's much-loved 'Enigma' Variations and Walton's Henry V, written for Sir Laurence Olivier's wartime film adaptation of Shakespeare's play. The programme ends in patriotic style with a 'Last Night of the Proms' style finale including Fantasia on British Sea Songs (featuring the Sailors' Hornpipe), Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.
