Rosas is one of the most important contemporary dance companies in Europe. It presents the UK premiere of Elena’s Aria, a work created over 25 years ago by its founder, choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
Elena’s Aria is largely the result of De Keersmaeker questioning her own work, evaluating her past and seeking a way forward. In this production she forgoes the use of repetitive music she became known for, using arias Mozart, Donizetti and Bizet instead, and allows the movements to follow their own path regardless of the music.
Elena’s Aria was also the first of De Keersmaeker’s works to use film projections and spoken word.
