Classic farce Rookery Nook finds newly married playboy Gerald Popkiss on his way to Rookery Nook with his new wife Clara and his mother-in-law. When his mother-in-law falls ill, he is forced to continue his journey alone and arrives at his destination to find a beautiful young girl wearing only her pink silk pyjamas. Thrown out of the house next door, she begs him to stay, which leaves Gerald trying desperately to find her some clothes while keeping her hidden from his new sister-in-law Gertrude and the meddling maid Mrs Leverett.

Terry Johnson, who recently directed the Laurence Olivier Award-winning La Cage Aux Folles at the Menier Chocolate Factory, returns to the London Bridge venue to direct Rookery Nook. His other directorial credits include recent film-to-stage adaptations Rain Man and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, and his own plays Hitchcock Blonde, Cleo, Camping, Emanuelle and Dick, and Dead Funny.

Rookery Nook premiered at the Aldwych theatre in 1926 and was filmed for the BBC in 1970 with a cast including Richard Briers and Arthur Lowe.
