Starring Vladimir Dragos as Rigoletto, this traditional production of Verdi’s masterpiece recaptures the decadence of Renaissance Italy with lavish sets and opulent costumes.
Based on the play by Victor Hugo, Rigoletto tells the dramatic tale of a jester’s daughter whose heart is stolen by a charming but unreliable ruler and whose father attempts to prevent the love affair, leading to tragedy.
The opera, which was almost banned in the 19th century because it exposed the licentious behaviour of the powers-that-be at court, features two of the most celebrated tenor arias La Donna è Mobile and Questa o Quella justly turned into classics by Enrico Caruso.
Please note, the production is sung in Italian with English surtitles. The cast is subject to change.
