Shakespeare’s Globe welcomes back the National Theatre of China with the Bard’s hilarious horror show of power and paranoia, Richard III.
Directed by the National’s Associate Director Wang Xiaoying, the production follows Richard, Duke of Gloucester, as he makes it his determined aim to wear the crown, and woe betide those who dare raise a voice against him.
Monstrous but theatrically electric, Richard III is Shakespeare’s most charismatic, self-delighting villain, revelling at every moment in his homicidal, hypocritical journey to absolute power.
The National Theatre of China previously delighted audiences at the Globe with the production as part of its 2012 Globe To Globe season.
Please note, the show is performed in Mandarin with scene synopses in English.
