The ENO begins its 12-month retelling of The Ring Cycle with this brooding prologue which sets the scene for the entire tetralagy with its epic themes and mythic cast of gods, half-gods, nymphs, dwarfs and giants – but no humans.

The creative team behind The Ring Of The Nibelung, which will conclude with the fourth and final part, The Twilight of The Gods in spring 2005 is Phyllida Lloyd (director), Paul Daniel (conductor), Richard Hudson (set and costume design).
