Puppets, storytelling and music combine with an incredibly versatile double bass for this half-term family show, Portofino Ballad.
Created by Peter Rindernecht, this is a poignant tale of family ties. A tiny man, who happens to be a double bass-dwelling cuckoo whose job it is to pop out on the hour, wants his son to succeed him in the family business. But the son is not interested in keeping the time. He dreams of a sea port named Portofino. Can they leave everything behind to find freedom?
Portofino Ballad, described by Switzerland’s Der Landbote as, “A miraculous and poetical play for children,” is suitable for theatregoers aged seven and older.
