While Tony Blair met world leaders at the G8 in Scotland to try and end poverty in Africa, Londoners watched pop stars in Hyde Park do their part in highlighting the plight of third world countries with the concert Live8. That same week, London celebrated winning the bid for the 2012 Olympic Games; the very next day jubliation turned to devastation and defiance as London witnessed its underground system bombed by home grown terrorists.
