Will Tuckett’s new music/dance work for the Linbury Studio is a rip-roaring journey through the lust and depravity of 18th century London.
Pleasure’s Progress takes its cue from William Hogarth’s satirical and cynical portrayals in his famous works including The Rake’s Progress, Beer Steet and Gin Lane. The result is a riot of stories and characters with plenty of ribald fun, lewd language and pointed observations on the human tragedies beneath.
Tuckett, whose works for ROH2 include Seven Deadly Sins, employs his characteristic flair for the unusual to Pleasure’s Progress, which uses a mixture of styles and influences from classical singing to no-so-classical dance.
Pleasure’s Progress is suitable for ages 15+
