Peter Pan returns to Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in a revival of their 2015 Olivier Award-nominated production, setting the tale to the backdrop of the First World War.
In the final year of the First World War Centenary Commemorations, J. M. Barrie’s Peter Pan returns to the outdoor stage to enchant audiences young and old alike.
For the wounded soldiers of WW1, imagination is their only escape. Yet as they’re transported to the fantastical lagoons and pirate ships of Never Land, allegories of the war they’ve left behind are ever present.
George Llewelyn Davies, later killed in action in 1915, was one of the children who inspired J. M. Barrie to create the iconic character of Peter Pan, the boy of Never Land who can fly and never grows up. Remembering him, and a generation of Lost Boys, this production enchanted young and old alike during its original, critically acclaimed run.
Fiston Barek (King Lear, Old Vic) takes the title role of Peter Pan, while Dennis Herdman (Around The World In 80 Days, UK tour) plays the role of Captain Hook.
Peter Pan is directed by Open Air Theatre Artistic Director Timothy Sheader (Jesus Christ Superstar, To Kill A Mockingbird, Running Wild) and Liam Steel (Lord Of The Flies, Into The Woods), with set design by Jon Bausor, who recently won the UK Theatre Award 2017 for The Grinning Man (Bristol Old Vic).
Having become renowned for its magically astounding spectacle and heart, leading to an Olivier Award nomination in 2016 for Best Family & Entertainment, this renowned production of Peter Pan will return to its home to open the Open Air Theatre’s 2018 season in suitably stunning fashion. Book now.
