After its highly successful run in 2004-05, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest returns, with Christian Slater reprising his role as Randle P. McMurphy, the gambler who fakes psychosis to avoid the drudgery of a working gaol. Alex Kingston, erstwhile star of ER, will make her West End debut opposite Slater as the tyrannical Nurse Ratched, who engages in a vicious power struggle with the extraordinary Mr McMurphy.
The production originally opened in August 2004 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before moving to the Gielgud theatre.
As well as being one of Hollywood’s most enduring stars, Christian Slater has returned to stage acting roots throughout his career, appearing in major Broadway productions such as Macbeth, Sideman and, most recently, The Glass Menagerie, where he starred opposite Jessica Lange.
Alex Kingston made her professional acting debut at the age of 15, in the popular children’s drama Grange Hill and trained at RADA before progressing to the RSC. She has enjoyed a successful film career but is possibly best known for her role as Dr Elizabeth Corday in American hospital saga E.R.
