First performed in Munich in 1688, Niobe, Regina Di Tebe remained neglected until 2008 when it was staged at the Schwetzingen Festival. That production is now restaged at the Royal Opera House.
Niobe, Regina Di Tebe tells the story of the Queen of Thebes who angers the gods and is punished by the death of all her children.
