New Wheeldon is the world premiere of this work by Christopher Wheeldon for The Royal Ballet.
Afternoon Of A Faun, choreographed by Jerome Robbins, features two dancers in introspective rehearsal, set to one of Debussy’s most famous orchestral pieces.
The temperature is then raised for George Balanchine’s Tzigane, an extrovert evocation of gypsy passion for a ballerina, her partner and four couples.
The programme concludes with Frederick Ashton’s much loved A Month In The Country about the disturbances caused by a young tutor’s presence in a Russian household.
