Featuring the Oscar winning sets and costumes from Mike Leigh’s film Topsy Turvy, this new adaptation of The Mikado transports the audience to the magnificent court of Titipu in an hilarious tale of love, corruption, marriage, heroism an, um execution. Written in 1885 when Gilbert had the inspired idea of transplanting mid Victorian England in to the exotic background of oriental Japan, The Mikado has a cast of richly comic characters and a suitably toe-tapping score by Sullivan.
Alistair McGowan stars as The Mikado, alongside Nichola McAuliffe’s Katisha.
