One of the hits of the 2009 Edinburgh Festival, Midsummer (A Play With Songs) is a quirky, charming love story of a great lost weekend, by leading Scottish playwright David Greig and top Edinburgh singer/songwriter Gordon McIntyre.
It is Midsummer’s weekend in Edinburgh. It is raining. Two thirtysomethings are sitting in a New Town bar waiting for something to turn up. He is a failing car salesman on the fringes of the city’s underworld and she is a high-powered divorce lawyer with a taste for other people’s husbands. She is out of his league and he is not her type at all.
They absolutely should not sleep together. Ever. Ever… Which is why they do.
Midsummer (A Play With Songs) playwright Greig, has a second show opening in London this spring. Dunsinane, the tale of one man’s desire to restore peace in a country ravaged by war, is staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company at Hampstead theatre.
