In 1906 Gustav Mahler began work on his eighth symphony. In 1965, Mike Maran took to the stage as a schoolboy chorister to perform in the European premiere of the completed symphony. Weaving the two together, from the 1960s to the 1800s, Maran brings to life a story full of laughter and tears, pain and joy, life and death, and of course, music.
Following the success of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, master storyteller Mike Maran returns to Greenwich Theatre with another emotional rollercoaster ride, celebrating the life and music of the troubled genius Gustav Mahler.
