Following on from its huge success at the Edinburgh Fringe, Gbolahan Obisesan’s Mad About The Boy comes to the Young Vic.
A lyrical and timely examination of what it means to be a man today, Mad About The Boy tells the story of a teenage boy fighting to save his repuatation, torn between the influence of his family, his friends and his school. Questioning where responsbility lies, the play examines the growing divide between the generations who gave, those who earned and those who demand respect.
Gbolohan Obisesan won the Jerwood Directors Award (Britain’s most prestigious award for young directors) in 2008 and went on to direct a production of Barry Keeffe’s Sus at the Young Vic, which returned to the Young Vic for a full production and a national tour.
