English National Opera has enjoyed great acclaim for its recent productions of Donizetti’s Bel Canto Canon with Lucia Di Lammermoor and The Elixir Of Love. Now the groundbreaking British film-maker Mike Figgis makes his operatic debut with one of the Italian composer’s most psychologically profound masterpieces, Lucrezia Borgia.
Claire Rutter, star of ENO’s Zandra Rhodes-designed Aida, returns as Renaissance Italy’s darkest femme fatale, with rising young American tenor Michael Fabiano as Lucrezia’s long-lost son. ENO’s Olivier Award-winning former Music Director, Paul Daniel, conducts.
Figgis has directed some of the most significant cinema of recent years, including the Oscar-winning Leaving Las Vegas starring Nicolas Cage.
