Ivo van Hove directs the European premiere of David Bowie and Enda Walsh’s Lazarus, based on Walter Tevis’ novel The Man Who Fell To Earth.
Following Thomas Newton, a ‘man’ unable to die who spends his time wishing away his existence with cheap gin and pining for a past love, Lazarus explores his life as he remains still on Earth through songs from Bowie’s iconic catalogue and new songs written for the stage.
But will the arrival of another lost soul finally set him free?
Playing for 13 weeks only in a brand new venue at the King’s Cross Theatre, built specifically for the production, Lazarus sees Michael C Hall (as Newton), Michael Esper (Valentine) and Sophia Anne Caruso (Girl) reprise their roles from the original New York Theatre Workshop production, which broke box office records when it played a limited run in 2015.
