Joe Turner’s Come And Gone is the masterpiece and personal favourite play of African-American playwright August Wilson.
The story centres on Herald Loomis, who has been forced to work in Joe Turner’s slave gang for seven years. Now he is searching for the wife he left behind, believing she can help him reclaim his lost identity. Through the people he meets in a Pittsburgh boarding house, he discovers that what he is really seeking is his rightful place in a new world.
Joe Turner’s Come And Gone is directed by the Artistic Director of the Young Vic, David Lan, and features a strong cast of London theatre regulars including Danny Sapani, Nathaniel Martello-White and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith along with big screen regular Delroy Lindo.
