The Jette Parker Young Artists make the main stage their own for their annual summer concert. All ten singers on the programme will feature, as will the stage directors, conductor and répétiteur. For the first time, the constellation of singers makes it possible to present two fully staged substantial sections of operas. First, the marvellous final act of Mozart’s Le Nozze Di Figaro, with its twists and turns of plot and series of great arias and duets, conducted by Andrew Griffiths (who will just have conducted the whole opera for Iford Arts in Wiltshire) and staged by Vera Petrova. Following is the Fugue, Duet and Octet from Richard Strauss’s vocally and dramatically challenging Capriccio, conducted by Music Director of Opera North Richard Farnes, and staged by Thomas Guthrie. The Gran pezzo concertato from Rossini’s Il Viaggio A Reims provides a sparkling end to the evening, with its ten star parts and four national songs.
Tanya McCallin’s designs from The Royal Opera’s production of Le Nozze Di Figaro provide the costumes and settings for the operas, which will be accompanied in the pit by the orchestra of Opera North.
