The first companion piece written by Simon Gray in response to his dark comedy Japes, Japes Too questions what might have happened if the characters made different choices.
Michael and Jason (Japes) are brothers, and have been as close as siblings can be since the accidental death of their parents when they were just teenagers. The familial home they inherited has remained part shrine, part playground ever since. But things change when Michael falls in love with Anita and a passionate triangle develops.
When playwright Simon Gray finished writing original play Japes, he felt the characters could have made different choices, so he began work on Japes Too. Worrying that he had only told one side of the story he wrote Michael. With the characters still playing on his mind, he wrote Missing Dates.
All four plays play in rep for the first time at the Hampstead Theatre Downstairs.
