Il Barbiere Di Siviglia is Rossini at his most tuneful and vital and in one of his most famous scores, whose highlights include its overture, the tongue-twisting Largo Al Factotum, the florid and brilliant showcase Una Voce Poco Fa, two great finales and plenty more.

The story of Il Barbiere Di Siviglia is a wonderful mixture of farce and comedy, thwarted schemes and requited love as Count Almaviva’s manservant Figaro works overtime to outwit the protective Dr Bartolo who has intentions to marry his young and desirable ward Rosina. Will Rosina and Almaviva finally get together? Certainly, if Figaro has anything to do with it, but disguises and distractions along with some sheer nerve may be needed before the inevitable happy ending.

Bringing alive the score of Il Barbiere Di Siviglia is conductor Antonio Pappano, Music Director of The Royal Opera, with a stellar cast of including Juan Diego Flórez, Joyce DiDonato and Pietro Spagnoli.

On stage there is the characteristic zest and comedy that have made co-directors Caurier and Leiser’s productions so popular – including for The Royal Opera Il Turco In Italia and Hansel And Gretel – while the stage is well and truly set in colourful, inventive fashion with the designs of Christian Fenouillat and Agostino Cavalca.
