Supported by the Cameron Mackintosh Foundation and Thelma Holt CBE, the Oxford University Dramatic Society International Tour presents William Shakespeare’s Henry V.
The tour of Henry V culminates at the world-renowned Rustaveli National Theatre in Tbilisi, where OUDS will have the singular honour of launching a new season of Shakespeare’s plays in the Georgian capital. The production will be broadcast on Georgian national television.
Flanked by Shakespeare’s surrounding histories, spanning from the deathbed of Henry’s father to the death throes of his conquests, this touring production of Henry V frames Henry’s actions within a wider context of brutality and performance.
With ruthlessly resourceful creativity, ten of Oxford University’s finest actors play over forty diverse roles. The production is simple but essential; lamp-lit eves of battle and eerie drum cadences envelop a bare and bloody stage.
