David Morrissey returns to the London stage to star in Martin McDonagh’s new play Hangmen at the Royal Court.
Set in a small Oldham pub on the day that hanging is abolished, Hangmen charts the story of Harry, the second best hangman in England. Cub reporters and sycophantic pub regulars are dying to hear Harry’s reaction to the news, but among them a peculiar stranger lurks with a very different motive.
Directed by Matthew Dunster, Red Riding star Morrissey is joined in the production by a cast that includes Reece Shearsmith (Absent Friends, West End) and Johnny Flynn (Jerusalem, Royal Court).
Hangmen is the first of McDonagh’s works to be staged in London for more than a decade. His other works include The Cripple Of Inishmaan, The Lieutenant Of Inishmore and The Banshees Of Inisheer.
Please note, this show is suitable for individuals aged 14 and older.
