Ashtar theatre present Richard II in Palestinian Arabic as part of the Globe’s unprecedented season, Globe To Globe.
Ashtar is a dynamic Palestinian theatre company with a global perspective, founded in Jerusalem in 1991. In 2010 the group performed The Gaza Monologues, a series of stories told by the young people of Gaza – an unprecedented theatrical project involving thousands of people and 44 theatre groups from around the world. This vital theatre company bring their direct storytelling style to Shakespeare’s great masterpiece of dislocation.
Globe To Globe sees every one of Shakespeare’s 37 plays performed in a different language by an international company. The result is a once in a life time, six week celebration of the incredible breadth of communities and languages that make up London’s vibrant cultural landscape.
