Zahid Mubarek was murdered while held at Feltham by his racist cellmate Robert Stewart. The play’s title, Gladiator Games, refers to the practice of Prison Officers deliberately creating inflammatory and confrontational situations and gambling on their outcome. The play was created by Tanika Gupta from interviews and accounts given to the Feltham Young Offenders Institute Inquiry and questions whether this was the case with Mubarek and why David Blunkett initially refused a public inquiry.
