The Menier Chocolate Factory plays host to Funny Girl, returning to the London stage for the first time since its 1966 premiere, and starring the acclaimed actress Sheridan Smith.
Featuring a beloved score including hit songs such as “You Are Woman, I Am Man”, “People” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade”, the legendary 1960s production is renowned for launching Barbra Streisand to stardom following great success on Broadway playing Fanny Brice, whose rapid rise from Brooklyn saloon singer to film star and comedienne is juxtaposed with a stormy, and ultimately doomed, relationship with the man she loves.
With direction from Michael Mayer, a revised book by Kinky Boots’ Harvey Fierstein, and supported by an all-star cast (including Darius Campbell), Funny Girl showcases the sacrifices of fame and fortune in terms of love in a spectacular occasion at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Not to be missed.
