Iain Glen, Richard Mccabe and Alexander Vlahos star in the West End premiere of Ivan Turgenev’s Russian satire Fortune’s Fool.

The explosive 19th century family drama, which charts the events of one tumultuous day, follows two newlyweds as they are welcomed to their country estate by a penniless gentleman-in-residence. But when wealthy neighbour Tropatchov drops by for a celebratory lunch, a little too much bubbly eases the way for a shocking revelation with far-reaching consequences.

Last seen on the London stage in William Boyd’s Longing at the Hampstead theatre, Games Of Thrones’ Glen will lead the cast as gentleman-in-residence Kuzovkin alongside Olivier Award winner McCabe, who gained the prestigious accolade for his role in Peter Morgan’s The Audience, as his neighbour Tropatchov, and West End newcomer and star of Merlin, Vlahos, as Yeletsky.

Also appearing in Lucy Bailey’s production are Lucy Briggs-Owen, Dyfan Dwyfor, Janet Fullerlove, Paul Ham, Richard Henders and Simon Markey.
