With only a faded photo and the name of a village which doesn’t appear to exist, a young Jewish New Yorker arrives in the Ukraine t search for the woman that saved his grandfather during the Second World War. His search is aided by a translator with a unique grasp of English, a selectively deaf and blind driver and a deranged dog. As their journey takes them into unknown land so their histories begin to overlap and they encounter powerful revelations about the nature of remembrance, the meaning of friendship and the perilous secrets that exist where the past meets the present.
