John Osbourne explores the state of post-war Britain through three generations of a family of entertainers.
Archie Rice is a has-been. He’s headlining a second-rate revue in a neglected seaside town. Driven by dreams of stardom and emulating his father’s success, Rice keeps going, no matter what suffers. He cheats on his wife and deceives his father because the most important thing is that the show must go on.
Multi-award winner Robert Lindsay (My And My Girl, Oliver!, Power on stage, GBH, My Family on television) plays Rice, with Pam Ferris (Notes On Falling Leaves, Closing Time on stage, The Darling Buds Of May, Rosemary And Thyme on television) as his wife.
