Beloved TV star and entertainer Les Dennis leads the powerful new black comedy End Of The Pier at the Park Theatre.

End Of The Pier tells the story of a former national treasure, Bobby, whose cherished career is grinding to a halt. From a life of stardom to second-rate panto performances and swathes of solitude, his glory days are well and truly behind him.

But before he has the chance to embrace his dimming status, his life is suddenly once again launched into the stars by the nation’s favourite comedia, Michael – who needs his help to save his career. The limelight suddenly beckons once more for Michael – but his experiences have instilled in him a nagging doubt. A dark question lurks behind the laughs: what if, inside, you’re not the person everyone thinks you are?

End Of The Pier is penned by the acclaimed writer Danny Rubins, who was behind recent hits Rudy’s Rare Records (which played at the Hackney Empire with Lenny Henry) and The Cold Swedish Writer (Radio 4).

Led by Dennis, the cast of End Of The Pier also includes Blake Harrison (star of The Inbetweeners, and Private Pike in the recent remake of Dad’s Army), as well as Nitin Ganatra (Masood Ahmed in EastEnders) and Tala Gouveia (Scream Street & Fit, CBBC). Hannah Price (co-Artistic Director of Theatre Uncut) directs.

Liverpool-born Dennis himself is one of the UK’s best-known entertainers, having become a stalwart of Saturday Night TV in the 80s and 90s. He starred in TV comedies including The Russ Abbot Show and The Les Dennis Laughter Show, performing sketches and impressions, and most famously served as the host of Family Fortunes between 1987 and 2002 on ITV. His stage credits include The Addams Family (UK Tour), She Loves Me (Menier Chocolate Factory) and Spamalot (West End).
