Restaurant owner Deli is trying hard to keep his business afloat, and hires a feisty new waitress to help him do it. But his father has his own ideas about self-improvement and his son, who is searching for an easy way to wealth and respect, idolises Deli’s old, and entirely unsavoury, friend Digger. Can Deli save his son from the temptations of crime while still making ends meet?
Kwame-Kwei Armah’s drama opened to rave reviews at the National’s Cottesloe theatre in 2003, before embarking on a UK tour. Kwei-Armah, whose other writing credits include Fix Up, Bitter Herb and Big Nose, plays Deli. His previous theatre credits include Blues Brother Soul Sister, though he is best known for playing Fin in BBC hospital drama Casualty. Shaun Parkes, whose credits include Guantanamo, Blue/Orange and Chips With Everything, plays Digger.
