Kristin Scott Thomas makes her Old Vic debut in Sophocles’ tragic tale of revenge Electra.

Sophocles’ story, in a version by Frank McGuinness, follows Electra, the daughter of King Agamemnon. Electra’s mother, Clytemnestra, has slain her father in revenge for the sacrifice of a second daughter, Iphigenia. Electra holds her mother and new lover Aegisthus responsible, and when her younger brother arrives an opportunity for revenge presents itself.

Scott Thomas is an Olivier Award winning actress, collecting the coveted statuette for her performance as Arkadina in the Royal Court production of The Seagull. Her other London stage credits include Harold Pinter’s Betrayal and Old Times. She may be best known as a big screen performer, boasting credits such as Gosford Park, The English Patient, Salmon Fishing In The Yemen and The Invisible Woman.

Electra reunites Scott Thomas with her Old Times director Ian Rickson. The former Artistic Director of the Royal Court has directed a host of acclaimed London shows including Mojo, Jerusalem, The Children’s Hour and Parlour Song.

Electra is performed in-the-round, in the reconfigured CGS Space.
