Following its Olivier Award-winning production of La Boheme, OperaUpClose collaborates once again with Soho theatre for this new version of Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
A heady mix of sex, drugs and Mozart, Don Giovanni is set in the early Noughties when coke and champagne are flowing in the belly of London’s richest districts. City trader Don and his hapless intern Leporello are working hard and playing harder, leaving a trail of broken hearts, junked-up prostitues and banker’s blood in their wake.
One of the UK’s newest opera companies, OperaUpClose beat off competition from the country’s most established opera houses – the Royal Opera House and the London Coliseum – to win the Olivier Award for Best New Opera Production in 2011.
