Using original source material and first hand testimony, political play Deep Cut tells the story of one family’s journey through a time they thought they would never experience, to places they hoped they would never be.

Between 1995 and 2002 four young soldiers died from gunshot wounds at Deepcut Barracks; 18-year-old Private Cheryl James from Llangollen was one of them. James’s parents wanted answers from the people responsible for their daughter’s care. But how do you begin to grieve when no-one seems to have a proper explanation?  What would give you the determination to continue asking awkward, demanding questions?

Written by Philip Ralph, Deep Cut has already won an Amnesty International Freedom Of Expression Award, a Scotsman Fringe First Award and a Herald Angel Award.

The transfer of Deep Cut to London’s Tricycle theatre follows the Kilburn venue’s commitment to staging important pieces of challenging political theatre. Past productions have included Called To Account, Bloody Sunday, The Colour Of Justice, Justifying War and Guantanamo.
