Dance United and Sadler’s Wells join forces to present Destino, a ground-breaking collaboration between the worlds of professional and non-professional dance.
Destino builds on Dance United’s acclaimed large-scale dance production with Simon Rattle’s Berlin Philharmonic and its award-winning work with young people, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Destino features new choreography from Russell Maliphant with Adam Benjamin and Hofesh Shechter, and introduces to London Junaid Jemal Sendi and Addisu Demissie: two young Ethiopian dancers whose lives have been transformed by dance, taking them from the streets of Addis Ababa to the main stage of Sadler’s Wells.
Completing the performance is an inspirational new work choreographed by Tara-Jane Herbert and Susannah Broughton for a company of 120 performers. This intergenerational cast – many of whom have never danced before – is drawn from the many communities surrounding Sadler’s Wells. Music is performed live by the young stars of the National Youth Orchestra.
