Dance Marathon offers audiences a chance to put their glad rags on and dance their cares away in an interactive event inspired by the human endurance contests of 1920s and 1930s America.
Part theatre, part social experiment, Dance Marathon invites audiences to strut their stuff to the live band. Go alone or as a group, go if you are experienced or a total novice. Have fun, learn a few new steps, be guided by the floor judges and join other participants as the competition and entertainment heat up. Those with two left feet need not worry – they can just sit back and observe the fancy footwork.
Round after round is danced out against the clock, until one couple is left standing and crowned champion.
Dance Marathon audiences are advised to wear comfortable shoes.
Dance Marathon is presented as part of Dance Umbrella 2011.
