Dona Lucia’s presence as chaperone would allow Charley and his friend Jack to invite their romantic interests, Amy and Kitty, for lunch to ask for their hands in marriage. But when her visit is delayed by several days, they blackmail their eccentric friend Lord Fancourt Babberley to take her place.
