Chaucer’s pilgrims tell tales to pass the time on the way to Canterbury. As the pilgrims come from all aspects of society, so their tales differ in content and style. The RSC presents their journey in two parts that can be seen together or as entirely separate shows.
Part II (The Wife Of Bath And Other Tales): As the pilgrims advance closer to Canterbury, the Wife of Bath tells of unfortunate husbands and the Franklin shares a courtly love.
