Black Arm Band: Dirtsong is a powerful and memorable musical exploration of the cultural heartland of Australia at the Barbican Theatre, inspired by the words of Indigenous Australian writer Alexis Wright.
Transporting audiences through a stunning amalgamation of moving imagery, text, and traditional and contemporary songs, members of the Black Arm Band group perform existing and newly commissioned music in 11 Indigenous Australian languages.
Structured as musical ‘conversations’ between the collaborating artists, the pieces are accompanied by specially commissioned visuals filmed in different communities around Australia by Natasha Gadd & Rhys Graham (Daybreak Films).
