Sherlock’s Andrew Scott stars in Simon Stephens’ piercing new play about empathy, money and fame.

Directed by Carrie Cracknell, Birdland tells the story of rock star Paul, who is on the last week of a massive international tour. Everybody knows his name. He can have what he wants, screw anybody he wants and buy anything he desires. But as the inevitability of the end of the road looms closer and a return home becomes a reality, for Paul, the music is beginning to jar.

Best known for his role as villain Jim Moriarty in hit BBC series Sherlock, Scott returns to the Royal Court following his performances in Cock, Dying City, A Girl In A Car With A Man, Playing The Victim, Crave and Dublin Carol. His other theatre credits include Stephens’ Sea Wall at the National Theatre and Design For Living at the Old Vic.

Birdland is suitable for theatregoers aged 14 and older.
