Lee Evans and Sheila Hancock star in Barking In Essex, Clive Exton’s comedy about Essex’s most dysfunctional family.

Barking In Essex tells the story of Algie Packer, Essex’s most notorious gangster, who is finally coming home following seven years in prison. Now that he’s free, Algie is intent on collecting his £3,672,000 booty, but unfortunately there’s something his family has forgotten to mention… the Packers are Essex’s lovable, but most dysfunctional family.

Best known for his high energy stand up comedy routines, Evans has previously appeared on the London stage in productions including The Producers, The Dumb Waiter and Endgame while Olivier Award-winning actress Hancock has appeared in productions including Cabaret and The Last Of The Duchess.

Barking In Essex is directed by Harry Burton, who previously worked with Evans on Harold Pinter’s comedy The Dumb Waiter in 2007.

Exton’s writing credits include television adaptations of Poirot and Jeeves And Wooster, and British crime film 10 Rillington Place starring Richard Attenborough.

Barking In Essex is suitable for theatregoers aged 16 and older.
