Trevor Nunn returns to the Menier Chocolate Factory to create an intimate new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1989 musical Aspects Of Love.
Based on David Garnett’s novel, Aspects Of Love tells a story of passion, love and loss across three generations of a family and their companions, set against the background of 1940s France and Italy. It centres on Alex Dillingham, a young student travelling through France, who falls in love with the alluring actress Rose Vibert. As the pair embark on a passionate affair, the unexpected arrival of Alex’s uncle changes their lives forever.
Nunn returns to the Chocolate Factory after his success with A Little Night Music last year. The former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre has a weighty and varied cannon of work that encompasses musicals, new plays and classics by everyone from Shakespeare to Tom Stoppard and Lloyd Webber, not forgetting the West End’s longest-running musical, Les Misérables. In addition to Aspects Of Love, Nunn has directed the premiere productions of Lloyd Webber’s Cats, Starlight Express, Sunset Boulevard and The Woman In White.
