Alexi Kaye Campbell, whose debut play The Pride was well-received at the Royal Court last year, returns to London with his second play, Apologia.
Apologia centres on Kristin Weybridge, an eminent art critic. As a young mother she was true to her politics and her art, storming Parisian barricades and following her heart to Florence. Her successful memoir secures her place in history but fails to mention her sons. Her birthday should be a time for celebration, but when her son Simon decides to deliver his version of the past, everyone must confront the cost of Kristin’s commitment to her work.
Apologia is directed by Josie Rourke, Artistic Director of the Bush theatre whose previous productions for the venue include 2,000 Feet Away and The Flooded Grave.
