The award-winning musical An American In Paris continues to transports West End audiences to a French capital beautifully adorned with artistic possibility, sweeping romance, and timeless George and Ira Gershwin music and lyrics.
This breathtakingly beautiful new musical about love, hope and living your dreams continues to astound at London’s stunningly restored Dominion Theatre, and is frequently met with standing ovations from the public.
A stunning reimagining of the Oscar-winning film, the musical was acclaimed upon its widely lauded Broadway run, telling the story of Jerry Mulligan, an American GI striving for success as a painter at the cessation of the war.
An impassioned love-letter to art and life, Jerry discovers a beautiful new world in the French capital city and, following a chance encounter with a beautiful young dancer, the ‘City of Light’ becomes the backdrop to a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love.
Inspired by the 1951 Academy Award-winning picture starring Gene Kelly, the musical An American In Paris was first adapted for the stage by internationally renowned director and choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and writer Craig Lucas. The stage show had its world premiere at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris in 2014, playing a limited run before transferring to Broadway, and thence the West End.
Winner of 4 Tony® Awards, having been nominated for a magnificent 12, this delectable show features many of the Gershwins’ most beloved songs (including I Got Rhythm, ‘S Wonderful, I’ll Build A Stairway To Paradise, But Not For Me, The Man I Love and They Can’t Take That Away From Me), and designed by Bob Crowley.
Thrillingly staged by a large company of actors, dancers and musicians, An American In Paris is a wonderful journey full of astounding dancing, jaw-dropping spectacle and triumphant music, combining to form a breathtakingly beautiful production.
