Nigel Lindsay stars in A Small Family Business, Alan Ayckbourn’s riotous comedy about entrepreneurial greed, which returns to the National Theatre following its premiere there in 1987.

Lindsay will take on the role of Jack McCracken, a man of principle in a corrupt world until he is approached by a private detective armed with compromising information after taking over his father-in-law’s business.

As his extended family are exposed as thieves and adulterers, Jack’s integrity is replaced by rampant self-interest and comic hysteria builds to a macabre climax.

Lindsay returns to the National Theatre following performances in The Pillowman, The London Cuckolds, Blue Remembered Hills and Dealer’s Choice. His most recent stage credits include the RSC’s Richard II, The Same Deep Water As Me at the Donmar Warehouse and Shrek The Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Directed by Adam Penford, whose directing credits include Island at the NT, the cast also includes Debra Gillett, Gawn Grainger, Amanda Hadingue, Amy Marston, Gerard Monaco, Samuel Taylor and Niky Wardley.

A Small Family Business will be broadcast as part of NT Live on 12 June.
