Already a hit when it was performed in Stratford, the Royal Shakespeare Company brings its Soho-set comedy, A Mad World My Masters, to the Barbican.
Transported to 1950s London from its original Jacobean setting, Thomas Middleton’s comedy is the tale of Richard Follywit who takes on a plethora of personas to try and con his rich uncle. However, high-class escort Miss Truly Kidman is also aware of the scam and has her own line in changing characters.
A Mad World My Masters presents a boisterous community where filth rubs up against glamour and the posh mix with society’s underbelly.
The production is suitable for theatregoers aged 14 and older.
